DIY Wall Stencil

Gallery

Moving to a new place with a low budget certainly challenges ones creativity.

I happened to browse through a book about wall painting, and came up with a creative yet doable wall art: stenciling!

Let me explain what it’s all about. You look for a design online, print it, tape it to a tough acetate and trace the picture with a cutter.

When you are done with that, just tape it on a clean wall and dab the design with latex paint!

Let me show you my past experiments…

After trying out several designs, I finally settled on feathers! I need not align it, I just need to gauge the ‘flow’ of the design. Here it goes!

You really have to be careful when dabbing– make sure that the brush is not too well or else it’ll bleed. I used a mixture of raw Siena and Hansa yellow to achieve this color.
